State police identify man recovered in Candlewood Lake

State police have identified the body recovered in Candlewood Lake on June 16, according to Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Communications Director Will Healey.

The body was identified as Larry Kwokpo Chan, 24, of Bristol, Healey said. It is being investigated as an accidental drowning.

Chan went missing after going into the water from a boat on Candlewood Lake on May 29. According to DEEP, the boat was not underway at the time of the incident.

The Connecticut State Police Dive Team recovered the body on June 16 in the same region of the lake in Brookfield where Kwokpo Chan went missing.

The investigation is ongoing and is pending a final report from the state Chief Medical Examiner’s office, Healey said.
