State police investigating crash that killed moped operator on Rt. 24 North in Brockton

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a crash that killed a moped operator last night on Route 24 North in Brockton.

According to police, preliminary investigation shows that around 11:39 p.m. on Thursday the moped and a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta collided as the operator of the moped was changing lanes.

Police say the male operator of the moped was ejected from the bike and struck by three vehicles that had been traveling behind the Volkswagen

The moped operator was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced deceased.

The operator of the Volkswagen remained at the scene

The scene was cleared at 12:48 a.m. and the crash remains under investigation.
