State Rep. Brett Hillyer will seek reelection for Ohio House of Representatives

UHRICHSVILLE ‒ State Rep. Brett Hillyer, R-Uhrichsville, said he will be running for reelection to represent the 51st Ohio House District, which includes all of Tuscarawas County and a portion of southern Stark County.

Also seeking the Republican nomination for the district is Jodi Salvo of Bolivar. She serves as the director of Substance Use Prevention Services at OhioGuidestone, and is the coordinator of the Empower Tusc Coalition.

Hillyer was first elected to the seat in 2018.

“I’m grateful to represent my Tuscarawas and Stark County constituents in Columbus, and I’ll always fight for them and my district as we continue to move Ohio forward with our conservative agenda,” Hillyer said in a statement.

He currently serves as chair of the Civil Justice Committee, vice-chair of the Constitutional Resolutions Committee and a member of the Criminal Justice, Energy and Natural Resources, Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review and Financial Institutions committees.

Hillyer earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Akron and a juris doctor from Ohio Northern University. He began private practice in 2011 at the law firm of Connolly, Hillyer & Ong, where he serves as an attorney practicing oil and gas law, coal, real estate and criminal law.

He and his wife, Anna, live in Uhrichsville with their two children.
