State school superintendent awards Golden Isles Elementary for reading growth

Sep. 26—The gymnasium at Golden Isles Elementary School was a place of triumph and cheer Monday when Georgia School Superintendent Richard Woods awarded the school with a Literacy Leader Banner for achievement in reading.

Fourth-graders sat crossed-legged on the gym floor and were quick to cheer loudly for their teachers from the previous school year who helped the students achieve a significant increase in their average Milestones' test reading score, which earned them the state recognition.
