Championship: Ben Lee (Jackson) def. Vasanth Ramachandran (Bellarmine Prep) — 6-2, 6-0

Jackson’s Ben Lee defeated Bellarmine Prep’s Vasanth Ramachandran in straight sets to hoist the 4A boys singles title at The Pacific Clinic in Kennewick.

Lee completed a perfect, unblemished run through the bracket without losing a set. He defeated Rogers’ Austin Egan and Redmond’s Ethan Zheng in straight sets on Friday, which punched Lee’s ticket to the semifinals.

Then came two victories in straight sets on Saturday — first over Camas’ Aiden Brasier and again over Ramachandran, which made Lee the champion.

Ramachandran, the state runner-up, dominated the bracket’s first three rounds in similar fashion, also unbeaten before meeting Lee in the title match. He was part of a Bellarmine Prep team that stormed to an undefeated, 4A SPSL title (6-0, 11-0).

3rd/6th: Jani Martin (Life Christian Academy) def. Jacob Oie (Annie Wright) — 6-3, 3-6, 6-2

Jani Martin won the all-important third set, defeating Annie Wright’s Jacob Oie in Saturday’s third-place state match.

Oie avoided a straight-set defeat and equalized the match in the second, but Martin recovered to win the bronze medal.

Froslan and Tunduc topped Kentridge’s duo in straight sets for the bronze medal.

Le and Nguyen earned a sixth-place finish; before their loss in the championship, they raced past a West Valley (Yakima) duo in the first round and toppled Sumner’s Thomas Canion/Austin Tweit for a victory in the quarterfinals on Friday.

After a semifinal loss earlier Saturday, Fife’s duo took down Bremerton in straight sets for the bronze medal.

Fietz and Grados began their title quest with a straight-set victory over Shelton’s Lovingfoss/Wagner and quarterfinals win over Archbishop Murphy’s Balen/Balen duo.

Championship: Hailey Kerker (Camas) def. Lucia Moravek (Bellarmine Prep) — 3-6, 6-2, 6-2

Kerker slammed the door convincingly on Moravek in the second and third sets, enough to hoist the first-place trophy at The Pacific Clinic in Kennewick.

Kerker stormed to straight-set victories in each of the tournament’s three rounds. In Saturday’s state semifinal, she defeated Bellarmine’s Anya Moravek (6-3, 6-3) to meet Lucia in the title match.
