State troopers to help enforce COVID safety measures

Maryland state troopers will start helping local officials enforce coronavirus safety measures in an effort to slow the spike in cases. Starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the high-visibility compliance units will check capacity limits, mask-wearing and social distancing at businesses, including bars and restaurants. The effort is similar to what's already underway in Baltimore and Frederick counties. The goal is to educate, not punish -- but violators could face stiff penalties and possibly be closed down.
