State troopers seek help locating suspect in Tacoma hit-and-run on I-5 exit ramp
A man was seriously injured Wednesday evening in Tacoma after a driver struck the man’s vehicle on an Interstate 5 exit ramp and continued driving, state troopers said.
Washington State Patrol troopers are seeking help from the public to identify the hit-and-run driver.
Shortly after 7:40 p.m., a dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck struck the driver’s-side door of the man’s Nissan pickup on the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 5 to westbound South 38th Street, according to a news release from WSP.
The person driving the Ram didn’t stop after the collision, leaving the Nissan’s driver behind with serious injuries. The Ram turned right onto South Steele Street and then proceeded toward South Sprague Avenue via South 37th Street.
The vehicle was last seen passing the Titus-Will Ford dealership going north on South Sprague Avenue.
A witness told troopers that the Ram’s driver was a man, possibly bald. Investigators aren’t certain of the truck’s exact color, but debris at the scene indicated it could be dark gray or black. The front of the pickup likely has extensive damage.
According to the release, the Ram’s driver also hit the rear of a semi-trailer on Interstate 5 before the collision with the Nissan.
