‘State of Twinsburg’ event set for March 23

Mayor Sam Scaffide will give his first “State of the City” address next month, and, in another first, Twinsburg residents are invited to attend.

The address, which is sponsored by the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce, will be from 7:15 to 10 a.m. March 23 at the Hilton Garden Inn.

In the past the mayor’s annual address was presented primarily to the business community, but in light of Scaffide’s call for increased transparency and participation, residents are encouraged to attend this year.

The format of the address also has changed from prior years. Scaffide will be joined by directors of various city departments. The mayor will provide a brief synopsis of the past year, and the department heads will share 2022 successes and plans for continued progress in 2023.

Registration and networking will start at 7:15 a.m. and a buffet breakfast will follow at 7:45, with remarks beginning at about 8:15.

Reservations cost $25 per person and can be made at www.TwinsburgChamber.com or by phone at 330-963-6249. The deadline to register is 2 p.m. March 20. Those who cannot attend can listen to a recording of the proceedings online.

Shortly after taking office, Scaffide began implementing his vision of an open, transparent city government.

“As recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we are wrapping up the return to pre-pandemic staffing levels and customary office conditions,” said Scaffide in a statement. He noted that City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

“Whether you have a concern or a need to connect with information about our city’s operations, in-person collaboration has returned. Our city employees and departments are available by phone, email or in person to connect residents, businesses and visitors to the services they need.”
