Staten Island deli clerk wanted in baseball bat attack on two men, co-worker arrested for assault

An argument in a Staten Island deli spilled outside, where one worker assaulted two men with a baseball bat and a colleague hit one of the victims with a metal stick, police said Tuesday.

Roshan Fernando, 46, was arrested and charged with felony assault, but his co-worker got away and is still being sought by cops.

The melee erupted after a 29-year-old customer got into an argument with the workers in Keshi’s Deli at Castleton and Port Richmond Aves. in Port Richmond at about 11 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

As the fight spilled outside, the second victim stepped in to break things up, at which point Fernando allegedly hit him in the head with the metal stick. Fernando’s colleague then bashed both victims multiple times in the head with a bat, police said.

Both victims were treated for serious injuries at Richmond University Medical Center.

Cops released a surveillance photo of the suspect still on the loose and are asking the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
