Amber Alert canceled after 2-year-old girl from Gladstone, Missouri, found safe

The Missouri Highway Patrol has canceled an Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon after a 2-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by her father was found safe, according to Gladstone Police.

In a press conference carried live on FOX4, authorities said that 2-year-old Sa’myia D. Barr had been found safe and she was with with family.

The announcement came several hours after the girl’s father, 25-year-old De’Shawn Barr-Cotton, allegedly abducted the girl after forced his way inside a home around 9 a.m. in 7000 block of North Olive Street in Gladstone, police said.

Barr-Cotton allegedly assaulted the girl’s mother and brandished a gun, according to the alert. He fled in a silver Chevrolet Malibu with tinted windows south on Olive.

Police continue to look for Barr-Cotton, who was described as being about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He was wearing a black hooded-sweatshirt with a Nike emblem on the front along with fitted blue jeans. He had a black-and-white low-top sneakers.
