Staunton's Trinity Episcopal holding a hymnathon Saturday as a youth choir fundraiser
STAUNTON — What is a hymnathon? Come find out Saturday, Jan. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Senior choristers and some adult choir members will sing one verse of each hymn in The Hymnal 1982. It will take approximately 10 hours to accomplish this.
The hymnathon is a fundraiser for senior choristers’ residency in Wells Cathedral in England in July. Members have collected pledges per hymn, but they are also taking donations Saturday during the event. You can also donate online here.
The church is located at 214 W. Beverley St. in Staunton. If you can't attend in person, the event will be on the church's YouTube channel.
Th public is welcome to come and go throughout the day Saturday. The schedule for the event is as follows:
8:30-9:35 a.m. Hymns 1-90
(Morning, Noonday, Evening, Sunday, Advent, and Christmas)
9:40-10:50 a.m. Hymns 91-180
(Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter)
10:55 am-12:05 p.m. Hymns 181-270
(Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Holy Days and Various Occasions)
12:05-12:25 p.m. Soup and salad for all in McCracken Hall. Donations happily accepted.
12:25-1:25 p.m. Hymns 271-360
(Holy Days and Various Occasions, Holy Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation, Marriage, Burial, Ordination, Consecration of a Church)
1:30-2:40 p.m. Hymns 361-450
(The Holy Trinity, Praise to God, Jesus Christ Our Lord)
2:45-3:55 p.m. Hymns 451-540
