Does Ceiling Fan Blade Material Matter?

Yes and no. Typically, the blade material isn't what determines the effectiveness of the fan; the CFM (cubic feet per minute) is. This is the measure of airflow that the fan will generate, and it's a function of two metrics: blade pitch and motor size. "What's going to drive performance is going to be the pitch of the blades and the size of the motor," Johnson says. "So that's really what you want to pay attention to.
