Staycation season is here. Stay in style with these eight unique Tri-Cities Airbnbs
Right now, many Americans aren’t where they want to be financially, still reeling from years of inflation, the pandemic and the overall cost of living. Yet, self-care strategies dictate that time for yourself is crucial, and that rewarding yourself and taking breaks is absolutely necessary for full-rounded self-care.
But traveling for a vacation can be prohibitively expensive, so some consider a staycation instead. The term is a mashup, or portmanteau, of stay and vacation, and describes the growing trend in enabling a vacation mindset without traveling anywhere.
A staycation in Tri-Cities could have an itinerary that includes wine tasting, live music and a visit to the Columbia River. But to really sell the staycation vibe, you can also get a local Airbnb. There are many options to choose from, so you can make the best decision for your needs.
The Tri-City Herald has compiled a list of eight unique Airbnb stays around the Tri-Cities.
Prices listed are approximate, as this may change depending on when you stay and how many people you stay with. Hosts can also require a service and cleaning fee.
Unique Tri-Cities Airbnbs
Minutes from the Columbia River, the “Grain Bin Inn” is located on an organic farm about 15 miles north of Pasco. Airbnb has designated the hosts, Liesl and Alan, as superhosts, meaning they are “experienced, highly rated hosts who are committed to providing great stays for guests.”
You may have guessed from the name, the cabin is constructed out of a grain bin. There is a queen bed and a full-sized sofa bed inside. Guests also have access to the fire pit and outdoor recreation area.
The Grain Bin Inn is highly rated and costs about $110 per night.
Staycations are a great chance to kick back and relax. Consider renting a relaxing spa retreat with a theater room in Kennewick, The Homestead by Heirloom Estates.
The guest suite includes an infrared sauna, massage chair, standing tanning bed, claw foot tub and theater room with reclining leather chairs. A facial is included with a stay, as well as a hand, eye and foot mask. There’s also a workout area and kitchenette with complimentary movie theater snacks.
The guest suite is available for around $245 per night.
Experience this three-bedroom luxury villa in Richland with views of the Columbia River. You’ll have the entire designer home to yourself, including a large master suite and master bath with a private courtyard.
Including the master, there are three bedrooms. The master has a king-size bed, another has a double and the last has bunk beds. The living room has two sofa beds and a floor mattress if needed. An office is also available for guests wanting to get work done. You can spend time outside around the fire pit or water fountain.
You can rent this villa for $299 a night, though there is currently a discounted price listed of $254.
▪ La Niña
As a romantic getaway option for two, you can spend the night on the Columbia River in a vintage 1986 Bayliner Cruiser, La Niña. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom cruiser will dock for the night at Columbia Point.
Stays include a bottle of wine, charcuterie board, two kayaks and a sunset cruise. La Nina is available for about $298 per night.

Rent an entire home a block away from the Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick. This estate includes three patios, one with a hot tub, one with a pool and one with a barbecue area. Enjoy private access to all the outdoor amenities, including a smoker, cooling misters, basketball hoop, fire pit, outdoor heaters and decks.
This Kennewick home features three bedrooms for guests, each with a queen bed. One also has two hammocks, and three air mattresses are available in the living room. Guests can use the private kitchenette or shared full kitchen and dining room. Two full bathrooms are exclusively for guests, making this a great option for larger families.
The estate is available for around $440 per night.

This farm property in Richland sits along the banks of the Yakima River, perfect for outdoorsy families. The 22-acre farm is just miles from nearby businesses, allowing for easy access to the city if needed. But outdoor enthusiasts may get stuck on the property, soaking in all the possible experiences.
The riverfront property allows for fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking and more without leaving the rental. Larger vessels, like jet skis and boats, can be launched across the street. Guests can also request bicycles or take advantage of the fire pit, hammocks, barbecue and batting cage on the property. The nearby woodland forest features four yoga platforms, and more can be added upon request. You can even request a class from a certified instructor.
This home includes three bedrooms, a master with a king-size bed and two rooms with queen beds. You can rent the property for $500 per night.
Sitting right along the Yakima River, the Red Mountain Villa is a 3,500 square-foot estate with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was considered one of the top ten best Washington vacation rentals in Tasting Room Magazine.
The building itself is over 100 years old, though it was remodeled in 2016. Now a wine villa, the location was originally a train station. The Old World Italian farmhouse themed remodel includes two kitchens, claw-foot tubs, an outdoor barbecue area and more. Nestled within a vineyard, guests can explore the vines and pick fruit from the many crops.
The Benton City villa can be booked for about $549 a night.
The Glass House in Benton City boasts a design by Tom Kundig of the architectural firm Olson Kundig. The home is made of steel beams and glass, allowing for views of Red Mountain or of Horse Heaven Hills from just about anywhere in the house.
The home was designed for tasteful entertainment, featuring an open concept and a chef’s kitchen. A 12-foot-long farmhouse table sits near wall-to-wall sliding doors, allowing the option for indoor and outdoor dining.
The Glass House has five bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed, walk-in shower and personal fireplace. Three of the bedrooms have queen beds, the last has two bunk beds and a sofa bed. Guests can also enjoy the pool and saltwater spa, among other amenities. It is also hosted by a superhost, Andrea.
The Glass House is available for $1,500 a night, but currently shows a discounted price of $1,200 per night.
