Steamship Authority: M/V Nantucket will undergo 'routine' maintenance early next year

The Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority vessel, M/V Nantucket, will undergo routine maintenance work early next year, according to the Authority.

A request for proposals was released by the Steamship Authority Thursday, asking all potential contractors to perform the work between February and March of 2024. The bidding process will end on Nov. 7, at which time the bids will be publicly opened.

“The bid … is for routine vessel maintenance that occurs every two years,” spokesperson Geoff Spillane said in a statement to the Times.

The M/V Nantucket is one of 10 vessels in the Steamship Authority's fleet, transporting vehicles and passengers on a daily basis, typically to Nantucket. The vessel can accommodate up to 50 vehicles and around 760 people, according to the Authority's website.
