Steelers DL Stephon Tuitt addresses critics on social media

When you are on a talented defense sometimes it is hard to stand out. This seems to be the situation Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt finds himself in. Yesterday was a day to celebrate after the Steelers pulled out a huge comeback win over the Houston Texans.

But for Tuitt, he chose to take to Instagram and defend his lack of production through three games.

There are a few reasons why Tuitt’s game falls under some scrutiny. First is his salary. Tuitt is the third highest-paid player on the team this season. Second is his injury history. Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten Tuitt during his career so everyone watches him closely.

Another reason expectations are high for Tuitt is because this defense is so good. He’s returning to a group that was arguably one of the best in the NFL last season and to a defensive line that needs him after the exit of Javon Hargrave.

Personally, I think Tuitt has played pretty well. The first two weeks the Steelers blitzed so much he really didn’t have the opportunities to make plays but through three games he still has two sacks and eight quarterback hits. Tuitt’s time is coming this season when he is the guy who steals the highlights.
