Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on COVID protocol: ‘I’m going to very much stay in my lane’

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is focused on one thing. Football. This means he is leaving the conversations about the COVID-19 protocols to others within the Steelers organization. When he spoke to the media he was asked a question about players on the COVID protocol and their availability and Tomlin made it clear he’s not getting involved in it.

I’m not going to make any speculations about people and the COVID protocol. I’ve learned quickly not to speculate about that. It’s kind of like the concussion protocol. I’m going to very much stay in my lane regarding comments on that.

The question was actually more about players who are going to be physically available as opposed to players in the protocol but his answer did offer some insight as to where Tomlin stands on the process.

Pittsburgh is one of only three teams that did not have a player opt out of the 2020 season. They have had multiple players on the reserve/COVID-19 list but as of now, the team appears to be at full strength.
