Steelers HC Mike Tomlin says he’s ‘comfortable’ with his offensive tackles

Looking at the roster for the Pittsburgh Steelers, a case can be made that the biggest need heading into the 2023 NFL draft is offensive tackle. Pittsburgh has gone to great lengths to rebuild the interior offensive line but hasn’t done anything to address tackle yet.

Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke at the owners meeting in Arizona and when asked if he was happy or comfortable with the offensive tackle situation he was very clear with his feelings.

“Happy is a dangerous word,” Tomlin. “I’m comfortable.”

I’m not sure how Tomlin defines comfort but the performance of Dan Moore Jr. and Chuks Okorafor provided no comfort last season. Moore in particular made very little progress last season after being thrust into the starting lineup at left tackle as a rookie.

Does Tomlin noting he is comfortable to mean Pittsburgh will not prioritize the position in the draft? The Steelers have scouted several top offensive tackles in the predraft process. It would be a shame if Tomlin’s comfort convinces him this isn’t a group in dire need of an upgrade.
