Step back in time at Walker Ranch Homestead on Sunday

Jul. 16—Visitors to the Walker Ranch Homestead can step back in time, and maybe get their hands buttery, on Sunday.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., costumed volunteers will demonstrate what life on the ranch was like during the late 1800s.

The Heritage Morning event also gives visitors the opportunity to participate in ranch chores such as butter churning, washing laundry the old-fashioned way, and making roof shingles by hand. A variety of historical games will be available. Guests are invited to bring a picnic and blanket as there are no tables at the homestead.

The Walker Ranch Homestead, at 7701 Flagstaff Mountain Road, was built by James A. Walker in 1865 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The all-ages event is presented by Boulder County Parks and Open Space.
