The annual celebrity golf tournament on the shores of Lake Tahoe kicked off Friday, and there was plenty of fun and plenty of celebrities to be seen.

The American Century Championship has raised more than $6 million for local charities since its inception in 1990 and is expecting another strong turnout after drawing roughly 67,000 patrons last year.

The Sacramento Bee’s Hector Amezcua captured on video some lighter moments during the first two days of the 2023 event.

‘Sign the belly!’

Billie Kirk of Lincoln, California, now has a lot of celebrity signatures on her belly after she and other spectators cajoled sports figures and comedians to autograph her baby bump (video above).

‘Hey, Seth. I saved you’

Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Seth Curry hit an errant second shot out of the rough on the Par 5 fourth hole at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course guard. The ball struck a fan on the shoulder. The fan is OK. He was given a souvenir.

No (golf) championships yet for Steph

From practice rounds Thursday and the start of the American Century Championship on Friday, here’s a look at athletes, such as Charles Barkley, Devante Adams, Josh Allen, Dell and Steph Curry, Steve Young, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and others, such as comedian Colin Jost, playing golf and mingling with the crowd.

But he’s at top of leaderboard

After the first day of golf, Curry sits at the top of the leaderboard with a 27. The tournament uses a modified Stableford scoring system.

Former San Jose Shark Joe Pavelski is in second. Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is the defending champion.
