Actress Stephanie Beatriz will take in her first Indy 500 in Sunday as the race's grand marshal, who is responsible for ordering racers to their cars ahead of the start.

Here are seven things to know about the 42-year-old soon-to-be race fan.

Beatriz rose to fame on a sitcom

Beatriz is perhaps best known for her turn as Detective Rosa Diaz on the comedic police procedural "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," which ran for five seasons on Fox and three on NBC.

According to her IMDB page, Beatriz also directed an episode of the series in 2019.

She has since appeared in a variety of film and TV series, most notably voicing lead character Mirabel Madrigal in the Disney animated film "Encanto."

She is a proud immigrant

Beatriz was born in Argentina, and her family immigrated to the United States when she was 2 years old. She became a U.S. citizen at 18.

It's also her first time in Indiana

In a recent interview with IndyStar, Beatriz said her grand marshal stint will also mark her first trip to the state.

From the interview: "I grew up in the South (near Houston). I went to school in the Midwest (Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri). I lived on the East Coast (New York), and now I live on the West Coast (Los Angeles). I think it's going to be quite the experience — having this be my first real time spent in Indiana for this specific race. Because it really is the greatest spectacle in racing, and to be able to be there and share it with people from not only Indiana but from all over the world … What is it, like 300,000 people who come to Indianapolis for this race? It's bonkers."

She's also a prolific voice actor

In addition to her starring roles, Beatriz has lent her voice to more than a dozen animated series and films, including "Bob's Burgers," "Family Guy," "DuckTales," "American Dad" and "BoJack Horseman."

And she can sing, too

Beatriz sang as part of her lead performance in "Encanto," as well as the film adaptation of the Lin-Manuel Miranda music "In the Heights."

When asked by IndyStar if she'd return one day to sing as part of future Indy 500 festivities, Beatriz said a crowd of almost 300,000 would be too intimidating.

"Ask me again in 10 years," she said.

Beatriz has astigmatism. Those glasses are real

Not unlike this reporter, Beatriz has astigmatism. She typically acts without glasses or contact lenses and confessed to difficulty adjusting to TV acting due to not being able to see her mark (the spot an actor must end up on to be in focus for the camera).

She'll soon be behind the wheel in 'Twisted Metal'

Beatriz is set to co-star in "Twisted Metal," a Peacock series based on the Sony PlayStation video game series.

Like the games, the series will feature over-the-top vehicular combat centered around cars decked with machine guns and saw blades.

She told IndyStar viewers should expect to see her behind the wheel when the series drops on July 27.
