WISN-TV (Channel 12) sports reporter Stephen Watson, left, interviews a young GIannis Antetokounmpo at the Cousins Center in 2016. Watson is leaving Channel 12 after eight years at the Milwaukee ABC affiliate.

WISN-TV (Channel 12) sports reporter-anchor Stephen Watson said on social media Wednesday that it was his last day at the station.

He didn't elaborate on his plans. Watson has been at Milwaukee's ABC affiliate since November 2014.

"Today marks my final day working at @WISN12News," Watson tweeted Wednesday. "It’s been an incredible ride covering Wisconsin’s glory years in sports alongside great teammates and friends. I’ll cherish those opportunities and memories for life."

Watson, described in his bio on Channel 12's website as an avid golfer, also co-hosts "On the Tee," a weekly golf show, on WKTI-FM (94.5).

Jan Wade, president and general manager of Channel 12, confirmed Watson's departure via email. Jared Fialko, who has been reporting at the station for a few weeks, is taking Watson's spot on the sports roster, she said.

Stephanie Sutton is Channel 12's weekend sports anchor, and Dario Melendez is sports director.

Melendez was named sports director in May, after the retirement of Dan Needles, who had been at the station for 32 years and had been sports director since 1998.
