The 46th annual Stepping Out in Style Fashion Show, presented by the Women’s Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation, raised more than $130,000 to build a playground at the behavioral health unit at the new Baptist Hospital campus. The new campus is set to open in fall 2023.

The behavioral health unit provides care to thousands of individuals requiring inpatient behavioral health care each year. More than 1,100 of these patients are children ages 10 to 17 with some patients as young as age 5. The playground will offer a fun and welcoming environment and allow Baptist's youngest patients to focus on their recovery.

The fashion show is the largest fundraiser for the Women’s Board of Baptist Health Care Foundation. Professional and local celebrity models showcased the latest fashions from Bluetique, Dillard’s, Gulf Coast cabi Stylists, The Market & Mainly Shoes, and The South Outfitters.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers needed for tax season

The United Way of West Florida is seeking Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers to help with this coming tax season.

VITA volunteers assist residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties making low to moderate incomes, helping them file their taxes for free. Last year VITA volunteers saved residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties over $100,000 in tax preparation fees and helped secure $1,088,000 in tax refunds.

This service is provided 100 percent free through the work of volunteers. There are three ways to serve: as a client greeter, a tax preparer, or an MFT tax assistant. No previous experience is necessary, and all volunteers will all receive IRS certification and training.

United Way of West Florida’s VITA Program is supported by the University of West Florida, Goodwill Gulf Coast, Florida Blue, the IRS and Pensacola State College.
