Steuben County woman arrested on more than $10k in Welfare Fraud

GREENWOOD, N.Y. (WETM) — A Steuben County woman was arrested on Friday after police allege she received more than $10,000 she was not eligible to receive.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Courtnie E. Trisler of Greenwood, New York, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 15, and has been charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, falsifying business records in the first degree, both class E felonies, welfare fraud in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree, both class D felonies.

Police say that between March 2023 to December 2023, Trisler gave false documents to the Steuben County Department of Social Services and received $10,755 she was not eligible for.

Trisler was processed in the Centralized Arraignment Court and was released to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
