Steve Martin has mocked Mike Pence on Twitter after a fly landed on the vice president’s head during a debate earlier this month.

The insect caught the attention of many viewers during the vice presidential debate between Pence and Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris, when it settled on Pence’s white hair and he appeared not to notice for several minutes.

Comedian and actor Martin has now shared a picture of himself on Twitter with a fly on his head, accompanied by the caption: “My Halloween costume arrived!”

The fly incident was also parodied by Jim Carrey on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live, in which the actor morphed into the fly and walked around on a white, fluffy surface.

Many viewers were delighted with the skit, with one person tweeting: “Jim Carrey going full-on method-mode as the infamous fly in Pence’s hair is the wholesome content I needed tonight.”

Plenty of celebrities reacted to the fly’s arrival at the debate on Twitter at the time, with The Assassination of Gianni Versace star Darren Criss writing: “I just wanna thank this fly.”
