Steven Henshaw: Berks couple found dead from murder-suicide, troopers say
Dec. 31—A Ruscombmanor Township husband and wife are dead as a result of what authorities said Friday was a murder-suicide this week.
State police responded Tuesday at 10:50 a.m. for a wellness check at the home in the 300 block of Poplar Street after Berks County dispatchers received a 9-1-1 hang-up call.
Troopers found Roger L. Anderson, 82, dead outside of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They found his 84-year-old wife, Phyllis, dead inside the home of multiple stab wounds that investigators determined were inflicted by her husband.
No autopsy was ordered.
Berks County acting Coroner Jonn Hollenbach said Friday that Phyllis Anderson's death was ruled a homicide and Roger Anderson's death was ruled a suicide.
