Stewart Market structure fire engages multiple agencies

Aug. 29—Fire crews continued efforts to knock down a structure fire at the corner of West Stewart Avenue and Lozier Lane in west Medford, the Medford fire department reported via Facebook around 11 a.m. Sunday.

The power grid was deactivated due to risk to firefighters, causing power outages for nearby residents.

Fire crews responded to a two-alarm structure fire contained within Stewart Market Sunday morning around 6:11 a.m., according to PulsePoint.

Medford, Jacksonville and Jackson County Fire District 3 fire crews reported the blaze as under control within 30 minutes before the fire resparked, and crews re-initiated advisements for drivers to avoid the area.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
