Stingrays achieve peak performance at Midwest Regional Swim Meet
Apr. 21—TWIN CITIES — The Worthington YMCA Stingrays placed 22nd at the Midwest Regional Swim Meet on April 1.
The 33-team meet took place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Stingrays team score was 247.5. Medals were given to the top four finishers, and ribbons were awarded to the top 10 finishers.
Lance Gordon competed in the men's 15-18 100 and 200 meter breaststroke. Gordon improved or held his seeding for both competitions, taking third in the 200 meter and ninth place in the 100 meter.
Annabelle Kremer competed in three events in the women's 8 and under bracket. She swam the 50 freestyle, 25 butterfly and 25 freestyle. Kremer paced fifth, fourth and fourth respectively.
Lily McGraw swam with the women's 8 and under for three events. She swam the 25 breaststroke, 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke. She placed third in the breaststroke, sixth in the freestyle and fourth in the backstroke.
Roselynn Hartshorn swam in three events in the women's 15-18 competition. She paced eighth in the 200 breaststroke, 12th in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 200 individual medley.
Emily Dahlquist swam in the women's 13-14 competition. She placed 34th in the 50 freestyle, 17th in 100 breaststroke and 30th in the 100 freestyle.
Liam Gordon swam three events in the men's 11-12 competition. He placed seventh in the 50 breaststroke, 14th in the 100 freestyle and 17th in the 50 freestyle.
Evan Hansberger swam two events in the men's 15-18. He finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke and 29th in the 50 freestyle.
Ivy Jenson swam three events in the women's 15-18. She placed 18th in the 100 backstroke, 25th in the 50 freestyle and 28th in the 100 freestyle.
Gerret Larson swam two events in the men's 13-14. He placed 16th in the 100 freestyle and 22nd in the 50 freestyle.
Hannah McNab swam the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in the women's 15-18 competition.
She placed 23rd in the 100 freestyle and 30th in the 50 freestyle.
Keegan Spittle placed 24th in men's 15-18 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle.
The Stingrays had four relay teams compete at the regional meet. The men's 18 and under 200 freestyle of Gerret Larson, Lance Gordon, Evan Hansberger and Keegan Spittle finished seventh. The same relay group placed 10th in the 200 medley relay.
The women's 18 and under relay group of Ivy Jenson, Emily Dahlquist, Hannah McNab and Roselynn Hartshorn placed 12th in the 200 freestyle. They also finished 19th in the 200 medley.
