Is the stock market closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Traders are taking a breather after stocks capped a milestone-setting week.

U.S. stock markets are closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On Tuesday, the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will resume normal trading hours.

The U.S. bond market will be closed Monday, as recommended by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

Foreign financial markets are open Monday. Currency markets are expected to remain open for trading.

The next market holiday is Presidents Day, which falls on Monday, Feb. 17.

Stocks nudged higher Friday on strong quarterly earnings results from banks and encouraging housing data, pushing major averages to all-time highs.
