Here’s How You Should Stock Your Refrigerator for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and one of the many culinary challenges of the day (aside from how to make sure every dish is warm at the same time, and which pants to wear for prime eating pleasure) is making sure you have enough room in your refrigerator for the big meal. If you’re not sure where to put the five-pound pumpkin cheesecake or the stuffed Brussels sprouts, we got you covered. #1: Empty Your Fridge

Clearing space will help you see everything you have. Throw out anything questionable or expired. Move non-perishables to your pantry.

#2: Clean It Out

Take advantage of the empty space and give those shelves a good scrub. This is basically a once-a-year chore, so really have at it.

#3: Turkey Goes First

The star of your Thanksgiving meal, your turkey should be the first thing you put in your fridge. On a cookie sheet, place your turkey with the seasoned veggies you want to roast, and place it toward the bottom so it’s easier to take in and out.

Once your turkey is in place, you can map out how to arrange everything else around it. Since you’ll probably want easy access to your butter and milk, place them on the righthand side of your fridge. Store your root veggies in glass containers on the top shelf. Putting them in containers can help them last longer and help you store more things on the shelf. Add any additional drinks next to the veggies. Use a wine rack for any wines that need to be chilled. And the best for last: dessert! Place your pumpkin and pecan pies on the middle shelf to keep them at the perfect temperature.
