COSHOCTON — A Stockport woman changed her plea Monday in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court related to a vehicular homicide.

Pamela D. Marion, 49, was indicted in October 2020 with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree felonies, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or combination, a first-degree misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while under the influence of a listed controlled substance or a listed metabolite or a controlled substance, a first-degree misdemeanor, from an incident on Aug. 24, 2020.

The indictment states Marion was under the influence of alcohol and amphetaminem and that she was operating a 2004 Suzuki XL 7 that caused the death of Robert Jacobs, 50, of Coshocton. She was previously convicted of an OVI in April 2017, in a Morgan County court.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office said the two-vehicle crash occurred on Ohio 16, just west of Ohio 83 in Jackson Township. Authorities determined Marion went left of center and struck a 1993 Ford Ranger driven by Jacobs.

Both individuals were extracted from their vehicles by mechanical means. Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene. Marion was transported to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville for treatment of injuries.

A jury trial was to start Tuesday, but was canceled based on the plea change.

Coshocton County Assistant Prosecutor Ben Hall said the state agreed to drop counts two and four of the indictment in exchange for no contest pleas to one of the vehicular homicide charges and the OVI charge. The misdemeanor will merge with the felony upon sentencing.

Marion faces from two to eight years in prison, a possible fine up to $15,000, a driver's license suspension and from 18 months to three years of post release control. Prison time is mandatory for the felony charge.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by Judge Robert Batchelor. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled once the investigation is completed and reviewed by the court.
