'Pray and Be Thankful' art exhibition

A new art exhibit that “explores Gender Identity Through the Past, Present and Cats” has opened at the University of the Pacific Reynolds Gallery: Pray and Be Thankful 4 Everything by queer artist, filmmaker, and professor at University of the Pacific’s Media X, K Pontuti (they/them).

The exhibit examines topics such as gender identity, bodily autonomy and trans rights through sketches, painting, murals and more.

Through “absurdist humor” presenting difficult ideas and experiences of the recent transition of the own Pontuti.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Friday, Oct. 21, open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

63rd Annual Saint Basil’s Greek Festival

Food, music, dancing and everything Greek can be found at the annual Saint Basil’s Greek Festival. A tour of the Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Christian Church will be offered at the festival.

When: 4-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9; 12-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10; 12-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11

Live music at Windmill Cove

By land or by boat, live music can be enjoyed this weekend at Windmill Cove. Saturday's show will begin at 3 p.m., featuring Unchained. Blood Red Sky performs at 2 p.m. Sunday.

When: Times vary Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11

6th Annual Stockton Brew Fest

Unlimited tasting of more than 40 microbrewery beers from across California, local and regional craft beers and ciders, food trucks, artisanal vendors and live music from DJ EKSPOE can all be found at the Brew Fest.

A VIP ticket includes a one-hour early entrance from 12 to 4 p.m.; first-come, first-serve to the special beer list with very limited availability; a VIP badge; and a mini commemorative tasting beer mug.

This is a 21-year-old and over event.

When: 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Where: Weber Point Events Center, 221 N. Center St., Stockton

Admission: $50 VIP ($60 at door), $40 general admission ($50 at door), $15 designated driver

11th annual Taco Truck Cook-off

The 11th Annual Taco Truck Cook-Off will be happening this year at Hale Park. Trucks will compete for “favorite truck” as attendees try all the different tacos and vote for their favorite truck.

A taco-eating contest, a beer, and wine garden, a children’s art booth, Folklorico and Aztec dancers, and more can be found at this event.

When: 12-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10

Beats, Eats, and Treats! Rhymosaurs at the Children's Museum of Stockton

Rhymosaurs will be visiting The Children's Museum of Stockton on Saturday, Sept. 10. The visit will be full of family rap songs and kid activities.

Orlando “Zeps” Molina author and creator of "Rhymosaurs" will be doing the rhymes at the event. There will be a hip-hop story time and a sticker station.

There will also be vegan Puerto Rican snacks and Sweet N Snow Shaved Ice.
