Stockton daycare temporarily closes as COVID-19 sickens kids, staff

A Stockton day care had to temporarily close after a staff member and five children tested positive for COVID-19. But this is not the facility's first closure in recent years. Tanya Andrews, owner and director of LeakyLee BeariBear DayCare, said she's closed the daycare three times now because of the virus. Keeping the facility open has had its challenges over the course of the pandemic, namely a lack of financial support. While Andrews' day care is struggling, she said others have fared worse, explaining that she knows of at least 15 day cares in Stockton that have had to close permanently.
