Stockton police employee arrested on suspicion of driving drunk to work

Officers arrested a Stockton Police Department employee accused of showing up to work drunk on Thursday afternoon, officials announced Friday.

Hope Gillespie, 62, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Sacramento police officials announced in a Facebook post.

Gillespie works at the department’s Operations Building on East Market Street in downtown Stockton. She is not a sworn police officer.

Department officials said Gillespie arrived for work about 4 p.m. at the Market Street building, and she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

They also said that an investigation was immediately conducted, and it was determined that Gillespie had driven to work under the influence.

Gillespie was placed on administrative leave, officials said, she was booked on the DUI charge at the San Joaquin County Jail.
