Stockton Police investigating fatal shooting in Popeye's parking lot on West Lane

The Stockton Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday night in the 4900 block of West Lane, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Authorities said the first report of the shooting came in at 9:49 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 43-year-old man who was shot in the parking lot of a Popeye's restaurant.

Police said life-saving measures were performed by first responders, but the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

There is no motive or suspect information at the time.

The deadly shooting marked the second homicide case of the day in Stockton, after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed outside of the Golden 1 Credit Union at Sherwood Mall Thursday morning.
