Stolen car crashes into Lakewood Police, two juveniles arrested

LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WJW) – Two juvenile suspects are now in custody after a stolen vehicle they were in crashed into two Lakewood Police Department vehicles. A third suspect has not yet been located.

Lakewood Police Officers were in the area on reports of thefts of Hird Avenue and North Lane around 2 a.m. on Thursday.

According to officials, an officer noticed a Hyundai with a broken window driving westbound and parking in an apartment building parking lot on North Ln.

According to a press release from the Lakewood Police Department, when officers drove into the parking lot, the vehicle sped up, driving out of the lot and crashing into a Lakewood patrol vehicle.

The stolen vehicle then drove southbound on Hird Avenue crashing into a second Lakewood Police Patrol vehicle.

Two suspects got out of the vehicle and fled on foot while another was arrested at the scene.

Officers chased the two suspects and arrested one on the 11000 block of Hird Ave. According to the release, the third suspect was not found.

According to the release, the vehicle that was being driven by the suspects was reported stolen to the Cleveland Division of Police.

Both suspects who were arrested were juveniles, the release said.

No injuries were reported.
