Stone Roses Bassist Mani Set To Enrage Manchester City Fans At Band’s Etihad Stadium Gigs

Stone Roses bassist Mani will make Manchester City fans see red as he’s planning to wear Man United shirts for gigs at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 53-year-old, real name Gary Mountfield, will reportedly honour four Reds legends with their names printed on tops he will wear for the sellout run in June.

So far he has chosen George Best, who died in 2005 at 59, and wing wizards Gordon Hill, 62, and Steve Coppell, 60. The fourth is likely to be striker Eric Cantona, 49.

Mani, above, was quoted in the Daily Mirror saying: “I’m a massive United fan, so it won’t come as a surprise that I want to wear the badge.”

A pal added to the paper: “He knows he won’t be causing any offence – it will be packed with supporters of many clubs.”

Singer Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire, both 53, and above with their bandmates, are also Reds.

The band’s song This Is The One is played at Old Trafford before every match.

Only drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren, 51, sides with the Sky Blues.
