Stop the Bleed training helps school nurses save lives

Knowing how to stop a person from bleeding out is a life-saving skill. Baltimore County Public Schools teamed up Monday with Shock Trauma to train 170 school nurses and 80 medical assistants, teaching them how to apply pressure and create tourniquets to save students and staff members from bleeding out. Officials said the No. 1 cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding, regardless of the cause.
