When will it stop raining in Modesto? Here are the latest totals and weather forecast

Rain and wind continued in Modesto on Wednesday as a weather system swept through the area.

Between early Tuesday and late morning Wednesday, the system dropped 0.61 inches of rain in Modesto, according to the Modesto Irrigation District. More was expected throughout the day.

“We have (the heaviest) showers through (Wednesday) morning,” National Weather Service meteorologist Idamis Del Valle-Shoemaker said. Some occasional showers were expected to linger into Thursday.

Winds between 8 and 11 mph also were recorded in the area, according to MID.

“We could see some breezy winds up to 25 mph,” Del Valle-Shoemaker said.

Dry conditions are expected for the rest of the week into the weekend, although Valley temperatures may reach as low as 30 degrees Friday through Sunday, according to the weather service. The region could see more rain early next week.

The San Joaquin River on Wednesday morning was above the monitor stage, sitting at 20.22 feet at Mossdale Bridge, according to the California Department of Water Resources. It was above the flood stage of 29 feet at Vernalis, sitting at 29.41 feet.

The Tuolumne River, which begins on the slopes of Mount Lyell in Yosemite National Park and continues west until it joins the San Joaquin River, has minor flooding and was at 54.54 feet Wednesday morning.
