'Stop the Steal' Protesters Rally in Atlanta as Georgia Certifies Election Results

As supporters of President Donald Trump rallied at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on November 20 to baselessly allege major fraud in the presidential election, the Secretary of State’s office announced that a recount had upheld the results.

Footage from independent reporter Brendan Gutenschwager shows crowds gathering, with some dressed as pirates to represent “dead voters,” Gutenschwager said, and chanting “stop the steal.”

The protest had been scheduled prior to the announcement, and was getting underway as Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s statement was issued.

“The Risk Limiting Audit reaffirmed the outcome of the presidential race in Georgia as originally reported, with Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump in the state,” the Secretary of State’s statement said.

Raffensperger praised county and local officials for moving “quickly to undertake and complete such a momentous task in a short period of time.”

“Georgia’s first statewide audit successfully confirmed the winner of the chosen contest and should give voters increased confidence in the results,” said Ben Adida, Executive Director of nonpartisan election-security organization VotingWorks, according to the statement.
