STEVENS POINT – The Store will close its Division Street location Monday.

According to an announcement from Team Schierl Cos., Friday morning, the convenience store at 708 Division St. in Stevens Point will close effective July 11 because of the pending redesign of Fourth Avenue and Division Street. Another factor was changes in traffic patterns due to the COVID-19 pandemic that dropped sales at the location.

“The combination of large area companies working remotely and area schools meeting online changed the business viability of the site over the last several years and the site has not recovered,” the announcement said.

The Division Street location was not included in the recent sale of The Store brand. Team Schierl Cos. announced last month it sold The Store brand to West Hill Ranch Group, a Florida-based company that is a division of Mountain Express Oil out of Georgia.

All employees have been reassigned to other Stevens Point locations, and no jobs were lost, the Team Schierl announcement said.

New commercial redevelopment is planned on the site for early next year, although there are no final decisions on what those plans will be.

"We truly appreciate the many years of guest patronage, our associates' dedication and support and look forward to serving the community again in 2023 with the new development at this site," said Fritz Schierl, one of the company owners.
