Is Publix open? What about pharmacies? Buses? New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day hours

New Year’s Eve on Tuesday and New Year’s Day on Wednesday won’t alter the daily routines as much as Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but some stores and businesses will open at different hours or be closed.

Food and drugstores

Aldi: Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

CVS and Navarro: Check your location as hours vary. Most of the pharmacies are open New Year’s Day.

The Fresh Market: Most stores will close at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Milam Market: Open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., New Year’s Eve. Open at 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Publix: New Year’s Eve, all stores will close at 9 p.m. New Year’s Day, stores in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties will open up at 7 a.m. All other stores open when they usually open. Some stores will close at 7 p.m. No pharmacies will be open.

Winn-Dixie: Open until 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 10 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Sedano’s: Most stores will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Some stores may open at 7 a.m. The 24-hour stores will remain open.

Target: Most stores close at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Regular store hours on New Year’s Day.

Trader Joe’s: Stores close at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve and stay closed on New Year’s Day.

Walgreens: No matter how long your Walgreens will be open — and they will be open both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — most pharmacies will not be open New Year’s Day (although 9675 NW 41st St. in Doral will have its pharmacy open).

Walmart: Regular store hours, including the pharmacies, at all locations on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Whole Foods Market: Check your location, but most South Florida locations will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Mass transit

Miami-Dade: Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will run on a regular schedule on New Year’s Eve, although Metrorail and Metrobus will run out of downtown Miami until 2 a.m. All three will run on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day.

Broward: Broward County Transit will run on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day.

Tri-Rail: Normal schedule on New Year’s Eve. Weekend/holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.

Garbage

Miami-Dade, Miami Beach, Coral Gables and Miami will collect garbage as normal.

Banks

Open normal hours on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Libraries

Miami-Dade: All branches, save Virrick Park, will be open on New Year’s Eve, although some will have shortened hours. All will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Broward: All branches close at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will stay closed New Year’s Day.

Stock Markets

Normal hours on New Year’s Eve, although the bond markets may close early. Both the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will be closed New Year’s Day.
