My name is Cheyenne Lancaster and I have two younger siblings, ages 9 and 3. I am in the eighth grade at Heritage Middle School and am working hard so when I graduate, I can go to college to become a teacher. Agriculture is my favorite subject.

This is my first year in TeenZone, and I am very happy to get help and support with my work during our meetings. Our sponsor, Ms. Brown, checks our grades each week and we share about our day.

We always have good food at our meetings which is supplied by Food Brings Hope. Spending time with new friends after school is special to me.

More Stories of Hope

On Christmas Eve we have a tradition that I really enjoy. Our parents give us a new pair of pajamas, a book and an ornament; then we change into our pajamas, and drive around to look at Christmas lights.

My birthday and Christmas are just a week apart, and I am really looking forward to the holidays because my friends from my old neighborhood are coming to celebrate with me.

Food Brings Hope has really helped my family and my friends in TeenZone. FBH provides what we need. I'm very grateful to have been blessed with this great opportunity and love being a member of TeenZone at Heritage Middle School.

About this series: The FBH Community’s mission is to foster community organizations that proactively work to eradicate the causes of generational poverty. Programs such as Food Brings Hope, VCan, Pierson Family Literacy, Homes Bring Hope and the FBH Prosperity Initiative help hardworking families struggling with hunger, housing insecurity, underemployment and low levels of literacy. Overhead is covered by the Hosseini Family Foundation, so 100% of donations go directly to the programs and families. Throughout the holidays, The News-Journal is highlighting the organization by publishing the stories of some of its young participants. To donate to the organization, or to brighten the holidays by donating a gift to a child, email info@fbhcommunity.org.
