The storm blew it away, but a west Fort Worth hamburger grill is open again
JD’s Hamburgers patio is open
Hey, Bud! Is it open yet?
—Guy outside JD’s Hamburgers
After six weeks, the answer is yes — JD’s Hamburgers is open again, serving on the patio weeknights and Saturday nights as JD’s “al fresco” at 9901 Camp Bowie West Blvd.
The roof and 60-year-old building were damaged in the March 2 storms.
Work continues on the dining room and also on owners Bourke Harvey and Gigi Howell’s makeover of Margie’s Italian next door; facebook.com/jdshamburgers/.
Drew’s Place has $8-$9 lunches
Hey, Bud! You write about all these expensive places. Where’s someplace that’s not so high?
—Audrey, Benbrook
Drew’s Place Soul Food, 5701 Curzon Ave., sells a lunch plate with baked or fried chicken, fried catfish, a fried or smothered pork chop or Buffalo wings for $8.99. Seniors eat for $7.99. It’s open for lunch only Tuesdays through Saturdays; drewssoulfoodfw.com.
Why’s the door locked? Because it’s not lunch
Hey, Bud! Just saw this?
—Text message with a photo of a padlock on a downtown Fort Worth restaurant
Sure, a lot of restaurants are closing. But that one’s open. The lock broke..
