Stockton Unified to return to school Wednesday after closing for two days
Stockton Unified School District students will return to class Wednesday after two days off while the city was lashed by storms.
Stockton's largest school district alerted parents just after 5 p.m., Tuesday that their kids would be returning to school the next day.
SUSD kept their students, teachers and staff home for a second day Tuesday due to storm damages to some of the campuses.
Melinda Meza, SUSD spokesperson, on Tuesday said about half of the 54 school sites sustained storm damage.
Damage and power outages at several high schools caused a cascading disruption to the districts food supply to other school sites, Meza said.
"I think it's important we're letting our families know at a reasonable time," Meza said. "We have working families and they have to have time to make arrangements."

Meza said among the damages are:
A roof leak above the kitchen dry storage at Caesar Chavez High School
A tree down with flooding at Hong-Kingston Elementary School
Water in classrooms at Merlo Institute
Debris at Hoover and McKinley elementary schools
Street flooding outside of El Dorado and Cleveland elementary schools
Parking lot flooding at Franklin High School, and Kennedy, Adams and Spanos elementary schools.
Power has since been restored to all of SUSD's campuses, Meza said, including the Arthur Coleman Jr. Administrative Complex, which experienced a power outage on Sunday.
She said the district is doing storm clean up and replenishing their food supply and will keep parents updated as soon as possible.
The district has also canceled its next board meeting, which was scheduled at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The board meeting will be rescheduled at a later date, Meza said.
