Storm damage reported in the News 5 coverage area

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The WKRG News 5 First Alert Storm Team is tracking severe weather moving into the area Monday night and Tuesday morning. With the threat of high winds and tornadoes, storm damage is possible.

News 5 is tracking the damage left in the wake of the storm. Check back for updates.

Alabama

  • COASTAL FLOODING: Bayou La Batre police officers said Shell Belt Road South is impassable from Kennedy and all roads eastward of Kennedy on Shell Belt Road South. Coden Belt Road is also impassable.

  • Washington County: Lightning struck a home in the Frankville area, which has resulted in a house fire.

  • Mobile County: A large tree fell on Old Shell Road near Cosgrove Drive at Kingswood Apartments. It knocked over a powerline, and SomPlus crews are currently on the scene.

  • Fairhope area: According to the Fairhope Police Department’s Facebook page, there is an area from Cliff Drive to Fairhope Avenue without power after a transformer blew.

  • Prichard area: A large tree fell on 318 Birmingham Street and is blocking the road. No property damage, but a tree is down.

  • Mobile County: Barricades at the construction site at the Mobile Convention Center were blown over due to high winds.

  • Mobile area: Tree limbs have fallen on Racine Avenue near Vienna Avenue.

  • Baldwin County: There are many broken poles on Highway 90 east of County Road 87 causing power outages in the area. There are also broken cross arms and wires down.

Escambia County

  • Two injured after tree falls on home

  • 2100 block of W. Blount Street: Tree blocking entrance to home. Occupant unable to get in or out of home.

  • 6900 block of W. Jackson Street: Tree fell on home.

  • 4500 block of W. Bobe Street: Tree fell on top of mobile home. Partial collapse involved.

  • 900 block of N. 47th Avenue: Power lines fallen in front yard.

  • 1800 block of Elna Road: Downed power lines

  • 100 block of Baird Street: Downed power lines

  • 2700 block of W. Belmont Street: Downed power lines in trees

  • S. Fairfield Dr/Pond Valley Dr: Downed power lines causes road blockage

  • 11:40 p.m. – 900 block of N. 77th Avenue: Downed power lines causing fire. There was also a downed tree near the property

  • 8:48 p.m. – Intersection of Airway Dr./Smiley Ave.: Downed power lines due to motor vehicle crash. Roadway remained clear. No injuries.

  • 6:04 p.m. – Residential structure fire at the 400 block of Cedar Street: Home was fully involved upon arrival. State Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause (unclear is this was storm-related). Red Cross provided assistance to those displaced. The home is a total loss.

Okaloosa County

  • Gas station awning and fences down in Main Street area.

Santa Rosa County

  • Down gas pump and nearby tree damage near Navarre Parkway.

  • Navarre Beach Pier is closed until further notice due to extensive storm damage.

Mississippi

George County

  • Lucedale: Severe winds removed a 20-foot section of metal roof from a house and additional metal roofing was removed from a mobile home. Several outbuildings were blown south from their foundations, and a roof from a nearby building was removed and flew east into an adjacent field.
