Storm expected to drop snow on Grapevine Thursday
Motorists are being warned that Thursday’s powerful storm is expected to bring snow and dangerous driving conditions to the Grapevine.
Video showed steady rainfall was already making for a wet and slippery road during the early morning hours.
A big rig was seen pulled over the side of the 5 Freeway south of Gorman as rain was falling in the area around 4 a.m.
Forecasters are calling for the rain to turn into snow on the Grapevine later in the day, especially in areas further north, with up to two inches of snow possible.

The California Highway Patrol is urging drivers to avoid traveling through areas impacted by the weather but offered the following tips:
Leave early
Slow down
Do not use cruise control
Leave plenty of distance between you and other cars
Carry chains for mountains
Bring emergency supplies in case of road closures or delays
Officials are also concerned about gusty winds of up to 55 mph causing high-profile vehicles to topple over.
Powerful storm arrives, drops heavy rain on Southern California
Thursday’s storm is expected to drop between 1 and 3 inches of rain along Southern California’s coasts and valleys with up to 5 inches falling in the foothills.
A second, even stronger storm, is forecast to arrive late Sunday and bring multiple days of rain.
