Storms arrive this afternoon; some could be strong to severe

May 26—Showers and thunderstorms arrive this afternoon, some of which could be strong to severe.

Showers and storms will continue in waves through the end of the workweek before a picture perfect Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Butler, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties by the NWS has been canceled.

The best chance for severe weather is between 2 and 9 p.m. Wind is the main threat, with a risk of hail and localized flooding as well. While conditions are not ideal for a tornado, the threat exists, according to the NWS.

It will be warm and humid with a high near 79 degrees. The chance for showers and storms trails off in the early morning hours Friday, which will have a low around 61 degrees.

The chance for severe storms will decrease in the evening, but showers and thunderstorms will continue.

Overnight, rain chances will dip after midnight, though again there will still be a chance of showers and storms through the morning.

There is a chance for showers and possibly a storm throughout Friday, which will have a high near 71 degrees. It will be chillier overnight, with a low around 56 degrees.

The three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend starts Saturday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees. Skies stay mostly clear overnight, with a low around 58 degrees.

The temperature rises to a high near 83 degrees for Sunday, also under sunny skies. It will stay mostly clear overnight with a low around 64 degrees.

Memorial Day will be hot and sunny, with a high near 88 degrees on Monday.
