Storms Cause Severe Flooding in Northeast Mexico

Heavy rain from thunderstorms caused severe flooding in Culiacan in Mexico’s Sinaloa state on Friday, August 26.

Footage posted by Secretariat of Public Security of the State of Sinaloa showed widescale flash flooding at several locations in the city. Local police are seen helping push a number of vehicles out of the floodwaters.

Mexico’s National Meteorological Service said the storm would bring heavy rain, lightning, hail, and winds up to 70 km/h (43 mph) to Sinaloa and Sonora into Friday evening. Credit: Sinaloa Public Security via Storyful
