Stormzy and Maya Jama have split up
Stormzy and Maya Jama have split up, according to reports. The rapper and TV presenter have been together for four years.
A source close to Maya, 25, has said that she and 26-year-old Stormzy – real name Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. – have broken up so she can focus on her career.
“Maya has moved out of their home in South West London,” an insider told The Sun.
“The decision isn’t one she has come to lightly, but ultimately the relationship has come to an end.
“She wants to focus on her TV and radio career for now.”
Despite Stormzy being at Maya’s 25th birthday party in Hackney on Sunday, their relationship broke down last week apparently.
The couple met back in late 2014 at Red Bull’s Culture Clash, then began dating in January 2015.
Maya said of meeting the ‘Big For Your Boots’ star for the first time: “You know, if I’m really honest, I knew I fancied him from the start.
“But I didn’t want anything yet, because, you know, you’re trying to do the whole friend situation first, and then I’d do, like, obvious hints that I fancied him and then take it back because I didn’t know if he definitely liked me.
“It was a childish phase. And then one day we just kissed, and that was that.”
Maya and Stormzy also faced reports of a split last year when they briefly unfollowed each other on social media.
