High school roundup: Stow tops Barberton in boys basketball

BOYS BASKETBALL

Stow 69, Barberton 38

Stow (7-6) made a season-high 12 3-pointers and dominated the glass en route to a lopsided win in a Suburban League crossover game.

Bulldogs sophomore guard Reece Raymond-Smith, who nearly had a double-double in the first half, finished with 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Stow.

Junior guard Nick Timberlake also had 18 points on six 3-pointers. With the Bulldogs up 37-22 at the half, Timberlake keyed a 9-0 run to start the second half and put the game out of reach.

Point guard Titus Baskerville IV added 13 points and seven rebounds for Stow.

Guards Tony Fox and Ben Huth led Barberton (3-9) with eight points each.

Copley 60, Austintown Fitch 56

Host Copley (9-2) reached the halfway mark of the regular season with a victory. Sophomore Trent Wininger led Copley with 21 points, senior Caleb Laurich scored 15 points and senior Preston Taylor chipped in nine. Joe Roth paced Fitch with 13 points.

Canton McKinley 52, Perry 43

Jahlil Graham scored 13 points and Lonzo Henderson added 12 to lead the Bulldogs (7-5, 4-3) to a Federal League win at Memorial Field House. Joel Brown scored 20 points for the Panthers (0-12, 0-7).

Northwest 44, Manchester 34

Garrett Baughman scored 14 points and Ian Ziegler chipped in 11 for visiting Northwest (7-6, 6-2 PAC-7). Daniel Sensius scored 11 points for Manchester (9-7, 2-5).

Triway 83, CVCA 78

Zack Miller scored 37 points to lead the host Titans to a win at The Pit. Miller made 6-of-10 shots from beyond the 3-point arc, 15 of 16 free throws and 2 of 11 shots from 2-point range. Triway's Drew Bishko contributed 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Darryn Peterson paced the Royals with 31 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Seth Bagwell added 23 points.

Louisville 71, Canton South 37

Will Aljancic made a school-record nine 3-pointers and scored a career-high 33 points to lead the host Leopards.

Alliance 65, West Branch 54 (OT)

Gage Ford (16 points), K’Vaughn Davis (15), Stephen Gales (14) and Brendan Zurbrugg (12) all scored in double figures for the host Aviators (9-2).

Rootstown 70, Springfield 51

Nick Wancik scored 24 points to lead the host Rovers to a win. Rootstown's Dom Shipp and Branden Bobbs added 13 points apiece, and Donny Birkett had nine points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Woodridge 59 Coventry 22

Leah Mencer scored 22 points, Cameron Hoover added 11 points and Anna Rorrer chipped in seven points to lead the visiting Bulldogs (12-2, 7-2 MAC).

Perry 60, Louisville 54

Meredith Randulic scored 19 points, and Izzy Centeno, Mia Guscoff and Macy Takacs added 11 points apiece for the Panthers (11-5).
